Rani Pink Tussar Ghicha Silk Saree with Grey Pallu – Bhagalpuri Handloom
Dhusar
A vivid fuchsia body, silver breaking through it wherever the light catches, and then a border and pallu of warm mid-grey. Small capsule butis run across both — grey on the pink, pink on the grey — and the fringe is tasselled in pistachio and magenta.
About the weave
The butis are what the weavers call a capsule design: small elongated motifs, each thrown in as a few strokes of contrast yarn while the cloth is on the loom. Here they've been reversed across the two halves of the saree, which is a small thing that takes some thought at the loom and gives the piece its coherence.
The fuchsia carries the strongest striation in this collection. Ghicha yarn runs lighter and darker along its length, and against a saturated pink those pale lines read as silver shot through the cloth — the colour shifts between hot pink and dusty rose as the drape moves.
What it's for
Pink with grey is a modern pairing rather than a traditional one. It has none of the wedding weight of pink with gold, which makes it a good deal easier to wear — a daytime function, a lunch, an evening that isn't formal. The pistachio in the tassels is what stops it being sober.

A note on handloom
Each piece is woven individually, so slight irregularities in the slub and variation in the spacing of the butis are characteristic of the craft rather than defects. The silver striation is the natural character of ghicha yarn and differs from piece to piece. Colour may vary a little from your screen.
