Mehendi Green Tussar Ghicha Silk Saree with Purple Zari Pallu – Bhagalpuri
Neem
A bright mehendi green through the body, silver breaking through it where the ghicha runs, and then a deep aubergine border and pallu, banded across with fine lines of gold zari.
About the weave
There is no print and no painting here — the whole saree is colour and zari. Ghicha yarn carries pale striations along its length, and against a yellow-green they read as silver shot through the cloth, so the green shifts between chartreuse and olive as the drape moves.
The purple is what makes it work. Green and purple sit opposite each other, and most weavers wouldn't put them together; here the aubergine is deep enough to hold the green down, and the gold zari lines running across it stop the two colours from meeting too abruptly.
What it's for
The obvious occasion is a mehendi — the colour is named for it, and green is what people look for. But it carries a daytime function or a puja equally well, and the purple keeps it from being seasonal.

A note on handloom
Each piece is woven individually, so slight irregularities in the slub and small variations in the spacing of the zari bands are characteristic of the craft rather than defects. The silver striation is the natural character of ghicha yarn and differs from piece to piece. Colour may vary a little from your screen.
