Magenta Pink Tussar Ghicha Silk Saree with Orange Pallu – Bhagalpuri Handloom
Kesar
A deep magenta-rose body, scattered with small capsule butis in marigold, and then the whole thing turns — border and pallu drop into a flat, bright orange, finished with a fringe of marigold and red tassels.
About the weave
The butis are what the weavers call a capsule design: small elongated motifs, each worked as a few strokes of contrast yarn thrown in as the cloth is woven. They are widely spaced and deliberately irregular, so they read as scattered rather than patterned — the eye picks them up as you move rather than all at once.
The body carries the darker striations natural to ghicha yarn, which is what gives the magenta its depth; it shifts between rose and cherry depending on the light.
About the fabric
Tussar Ghicha silk, handwoven in Bhagalpur. Ghicha is the yarn drawn from the outer layers of the cocoon and spun by hand — hence the slubby, uneven texture and the soft matte lustre rather than a flat shine. It has more body than plain tussar and holds a pleat well.

A note on handloom
Each piece is woven individually, so slight irregularities in the slub and variation in the spacing of the butis are characteristic of the craft rather than defects. Colour may vary a little from your screen.
