Marigold yellow through the body, and a rani pink border and pallu crossed with groups of fine gold zari lines. Silver runs through both colours where the ghicha catches the light.

About the weave

No print, no painting — the whole saree is colour and zari. Ghicha yarn carries pale striations along its length, so neither the yellow nor the pink sits flat: both shift and move as the drape falls, with silver breaking through wherever the light hits.

The zari is real metallic thread, woven in groups of four and five fine lines that gather into wider bands toward the pallu end. Against a strong pink it reads as warmth rather than glitter.

What it's for

Marigold and pink is the colour of a wedding house — the flowers on the door, the powder at a haldi, the cloth on the table. This is a saree for the daytime functions rather than the reception: bright, light, and entirely unbothered by being sat on the floor in.

A note on handloom

Each piece is woven individually, so slight irregularities in the slub and small variations in the spacing of the zari bands are characteristic of the craft rather than defects. The silver striation is the natural character of ghicha yarn and differs from piece to piece. Colour may vary a little from your screen.
