Black and Beige Peacock Print Tussar Ghicha Silk Saree – Bhagalpuri Handloom
Mayur
Black and undyed beige, and nothing else. The body runs in geometric bands — harlequin diamonds, chevrons, fine ladder stripes — and the pallu opens into peacocks, tails trailing the full width in spirals and eye-dots.
About the print
This is a two-tone print worked directly against the natural colour of the silk, with no third colour anywhere. The peacocks are drawn in the folk idiom — long curling tails built from repeated eye motifs, bodies left as flat silhouette — and set in alternating blocks so that black bird sits on beige ground and beige bird on black. The body's geometry is deliberately restless: diamonds, then triangles, then stripes, changing every few inches down the length.
The restraint is the point. A single-colour scheme on undyed tussar reads sharper and more contemporary than any amount of gold would.
About the fabric
Tussar Ghicha silk, handwoven in Bhagalpur. Ghicha is the yarn drawn from the outer layers of the cocoon and spun by hand — hence the slubby, uneven texture and the soft matte lustre rather than a flat shine. The natural beige is the yarn's own colour; nothing has been bleached out to make the ground.

A note on handloom
Each piece is woven individually, so slight irregularities in the slub and small variations in how the print falls across the weave are characteristic of the craft rather than defects. Colour may vary a little from your screen.
